Web apps on my laptop or desktop computer

A web app is an application that runs in an internet browser. Most have a mobile app too so you can create an account and use it across multiple devices. Check your device's app store for availability.

  • Evernote
    Helps you remember anything and everything: From notes, to lists, to ideas, to snapshots, to recordings. Put it all into Evernote for access on your mobile, online, and your computer.
  • Google Drive (formerly Google Docs)
    Create, share, and collaborate on docs, spreadsheets, forms/surveys, and presentations. 15 GB of free storage space. Access your files from the web, on your computer, and mobile device.
  • Dropbox
    Save photos, docs, videos. Simply upload a file to your account on dropbox.com or save the file to Dropbox software downloaded on your computer and automatically syncs with app on your mobile device or access later on the web. 2GB of storage for free. Ability to share folders with others. Example shared folder.
  • PicMonkey
    Photo editor and collage maker. Free version is easy to use and has loads of options for editing pics and creating collages.
  • Pixlr Editor
    For those who like photoshop and all of its bells and whistles, this free photo editor is for you.
  • Wordpress
    Create a blog or set up a basic website. Free, but has option to pay for your own .com and advanced design capabilities.

  • Skitch in Evernote
    Annotate PDFs and images stored in Evernote using Skitch.
  • Kindle
    Read books, pdfs, newspapers, magazines, and textbooks. Syncs with your Amazon account so your bookmarks are saved across devices and Amazon cloud.
  • iAnnotate PDF for iPad
    $$$ PDF reader and annotation tool. Open documents from email, fill out forms, sign and send out contracts, enter notes for edits, sketch diagrams, copy text, and add highlights or underline with the drag of a finger.
  • CamScanner Free
    Quickly scan any paper document using your device's camera and email the scan as a PDF or JPEG.
